GRP Partnership Intelligence Platform licence terms

Effective 28 October 2026 · Global Research Partnerships Ltd (Company No. 15971529), 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE.

These licence terms apply when a university or other organisation (the "licensee") licenses the GRP Partnership Intelligence Platform (the "platform") from Global Research Partnerships Ltd ("GRP"). They apply together with the order form or written proposal agreed between the licensee and GRP (the "order form"), our Data Processing Agreement (the "DPA") and our website Terms of Service; together these are the "agreement". If they conflict, the DPA takes priority on anything about personal data, including over the order form; on everything else the order form takes priority, then these licence terms, then the Terms of Service. Prices are not published here: each licence's fees are set out in its order form.

1. The licence

For the term, GRP grants the licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence, without the right to sublicense, for its authorised users to access and use the platform for the licensee's own internal purposes.

  • Authorised users are the licensee's staff, and contractors working for it, whom the licensee names and GRP adds to the licensee's workspace.
  • Named seats. The licensee may have as many authorised users as the seats in its order form, or 10 if the order form does not say. Each seat belongs to one named person and must not be shared. The licensee can ask GRP to move a seat to another person, for example when someone leaves.
  • Internal use. Authorised users may view, print, copy and download reasonable extracts (charts, tables, briefs and evidence) for the licensee's own work, including its own proposals and partnership conversations, keeping the source and licence lines that come with them. Publishing or passing on platform data in bulk is not allowed.

2. Term

The licence starts on the start date in the order form and runs for the term stated there (a three-year term where one is ordered). It renews only as the order form states or as both parties agree in writing. When the term ends, access to the workspace closes.

3. Fees and payment

The fees are those in the order form. All fees are exclusive of VAT, which GRP adds at the applicable rate; GRP is registered for VAT in the United Kingdom. GRP invoices the fees annually in advance, or as the order form states, and the licensee pays each invoice within the period stated on it or in the order form.

4. Acceptable use and fair use

The licensee makes sure that its authorised users do not:

  • extract data in bulk, or scrape, crawl or download the platform by automated means;
  • resell, sublicense, rent, publish or redistribute the platform, its data or access to it, or make platform data available outside the licensee as a dataset or a service;
  • use the platform or its data to build or train a competing product, dataset or index;
  • share sign-in details or seats, or let anyone who is not an authorised user into the workspace;
  • try to get around security controls, access controls or usage limits, or probe, disrupt or overload the platform; or
  • use the platform unlawfully or in breach of anyone else's rights.

Automated daily fair-use limits apply. When a user or workspace reaches a limit, further data requests are refused or slowed until the limit resets, and GRP may contact the licensee about the use.

5. Confidentiality

Each party keeps confidential the other's non-public information that it receives under the agreement, uses it only for the agreement and shares it only with people who need it and are bound by similar duties. The licensee's workspace content (its peer set, saved items and notes) is its confidential information; GRP's non-public platform materials, documentation and pricing are GRP's. These duties do not apply to information that is or becomes public through no fault of the receiving party, that it already held or develops independently, or that it must disclose by law. They continue after the agreement ends.

6. Data sources and attribution

The platform reads published sources and keeps each one separate; none is added to another or to an index figure:

  • GRP's two indices, the Research Collaboration Index and the Industry Collaboration Index, built from the open scholarly record (bibliographic metadata released under a CC0 public-domain dedication), with each published edition fixed until its next release.
  • UK projects and awards, including UK industry projects, from UKRI Gateway to Research, under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
  • EU-funded projects from CORDIS, under the European Commission's reuse policy (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, CC BY 4.0).
  • US National Institutes of Health awards from NIH RePORTER, which is US government information in the public domain.
  • Canadian and Australian national research funder awards, from the data those funders publish, under their open licences.
  • Finnish research data from research.fi, under its open data terms.
  • Live funding calls from funders' own public listings, each linked to the funder's page.

Attribution travels with the data: downloads and chart images carry their source line and a licence line naming the licensee, and authorised users keep them on anything they share. Source data stays subject to its publisher's licence. GRP presents it as published and cannot guarantee that every source is complete or current: always confirm a call's details, eligibility and deadline on the funder's page. A closed or awarded grant is never presented as one to apply to.

7. Independence

The indices are free, public and independent. No commercial relationship, purchase or licence changes any university's position, score, band or standing. The platform reads the same published record as everyone else and cannot change it.

8. Intellectual property

GRP and its licensors own the platform, its software, the indices and their methodology, and the compilations of data and content in it. Apart from the licence in section 1, the agreement gives the licensee no rights in them. The licensee owns its workspace content and lets GRP host and process it only to provide the platform. If the licensee gives GRP feedback, GRP may use it to improve its services.

9. Security

  • Access is by invitation only: only people GRP adds to the licensee's workspace can sign in, and no other organisation can see the workspace, its users or its peer set.
  • Two-step verification is required for GRP administrators and available to every user.
  • Traffic is encrypted in transit, each workspace's data is separated in the database by row-level security, and administrative actions are recorded in an audit trail.
  • Automated daily fair-use limits and logging protect the data from bulk extraction.

The licensee keeps its list of authorised users current, tells GRP promptly when someone leaves or should lose access, and tells GRP at once through the contact page if it suspects misuse of an account.

10. Data protection

GRP processes the personal data of the licensee's authorised users as the licensee's processor under the Data Processing Agreement, and as a controller for its own administration of the licence, as described in our privacy notice.

11. Warranties

GRP will provide the platform with reasonable skill and care. The data, analysis and briefs it contains are information to support the licensee's own decisions, not professional advice, and GRP does not promise any partnership, funding or ranking outcome. Except as these terms state, and to the extent the law allows, all other warranties and conditions are excluded.

12. Liability

Nothing in the agreement limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law. Subject to that, GRP is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, goodwill or data, and GRP's total liability arising out of or in connection with the agreement, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, is limited to the fees paid by the licensee for the platform in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

13. Suspension

GRP may suspend access for one or more users, or for the workspace, where it reasonably needs to in order to protect the platform, its data or other users, where the acceptable use rules in section 4 are seriously or repeatedly broken, or where fees are overdue after GRP has given written notice. GRP will tell the licensee promptly, keep any suspension as narrow and as short as it can, and restore access once the reason has been dealt with.

14. Termination

Either party may end the agreement by written notice if the other materially breaches it and, where the breach can be put right, does not put it right within 30 days of being asked to, or if the other becomes insolvent or stops trading. When the agreement ends for any reason, access closes, the licensee pays any fees already due, and GRP returns or deletes the licensee's data as the DPA sets out. Sections 5, 6, 8, 12, 14 and 15 continue after the agreement ends.

15. General

The agreement is the whole agreement between the parties about the platform. Neither party may transfer it without the other's written consent, which will not be unreasonably withheld. A person who is not a party has no right to enforce it. Notices go to the contacts named in the order form; GRP can also be reached through the website contact page. GRP may update these licence terms for new orders; an existing agreement continues on the terms that applied when its order form was agreed unless both parties agree otherwise. The agreement, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it, is governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
