Where our funding data comes from
We aggregate funding opportunities from public funders and link you straight to the original source. The data is, and should be, free. We list only the sources that are genuinely live in our search, and every result shows when it was last updated.

And behind the index
The data behind the Research Collaboration Index
Our Research Collaboration Index is built on the same open-data principle: the open global scholarly record, and funders' own award data, on a fixed and reproducible method. It is independent of the funding search, and free to explore.

The open global research record
The open scholarly record of co-authored research, released under a CC0 public-domain dedication: 26.8 million co-authored research records across 1,195 universities and 81 countries, 2021 to 2025. The basis for every collaboration measure. Explore the open record →

The world's major research funders
Competitive-grant award records drawn from the funders' own open datasets: UKRI, the NIH and NSF, the European Research Council, the German Research Foundation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Australian Research Council, the Canadian tri-agency (NSERC, CIHR, SSHRC) and many more, underpinning the research funding shown on each fact file. No single platform, and no purchased data.

National research funders
Competitive-grant award records from the funders' own open data: the Canadian tri-agency (NSERC, CIHR and SSHRC) and the Australian Research Council. Further national funders are added each edition.
Funding data is refreshed daily from source APIs. Where a funder offers no API, we use scheduled, compliant collection with caching. If a feed fails to refresh, we tell you rather than serve stale data silently. The index is rebuilt and published annually, with every figure linked to its source.
