How we calculate our figures
We would rather you trust our numbers than be dazzled by them. Here is what each headline figure on the site means, where it comes from, and how solid it is. Most are mapped directly from public funder data and refreshed daily. Where a figure is indicative of scale rather than an audited record, we say so plainly.
Distinct research projects we have imported and indexed from public funder records.
Publicly mapped
From the EU's open CORDIS / Horizon Europe dataset, about 81,900 projects at our last import. It grows as funders publish new awards.
The combined published value of funding opportunities that are open to apply for right now across the funders we track.
Computed from public data
We add up the maximum award or estimated programme funding of calls that are currently open, drawn mainly from the Grants.gov daily extract. It rises and falls as calls open and close, and is refreshed every day.
The number of funding opportunities open for applications today across the funders we track.
Platform-recorded
Counted directly from public funder feeds and refreshed daily.
Distinct organisation-to-project links in the funded-project data: the collaborations visible between institutions on public grants.
Publicly mapped
From CORDIS participation records, about 442,700 links. This counts collaborations we can see in public data, not private partnerships.
The weekly alert volume the platform is built to deliver to members as their saved calls approach deadline, at planned member scale.
Indicative of scale
A capacity figure, not a historical send log. The real number depends on how many members join and how many searches and deadlines they choose to follow.
Collaboration and introduction proposals started through the platform.
Indicative of activity
Reflects platform activity at planned scale rather than an independently audited total.
Distinct countries appearing in the funded-project and partnership data we map.
Publicly mapped
Derived from the public funder datasets above.
The public sources we draw on include UKRI Gateway to Research, the EU's CORDIS / Horizon Europe portal, Grants.gov, NIH RePORTER and NSF. See our data sources. All figures are refreshed daily and shift as calls open and close, so the live counts shown around the site are always the current ones.
