GRP Partnership Intelligence Platform: for partner universities

Find the partners your peers rely on that are not yet among yours.

The GRP indices show where your university stands. The GRP Partnership Intelligence Platform shows where to go next. It brings both indices and published funder records into one workspace, so your team can confirm its peers, find the universities and companies to approach, match live funding calls to your strengths, see the EU projects your peers have won and brief the board: every answer with its evidence attached, and no figures pulled together by hand.

The decisions it speeds up

An index tells you where you stand. It does not tell you which partner to approach next.

After every release the same questions reach the executive and the research office. The public index pages answer them one university at a time; across a peer group, the answer often means figures pulled together by hand, in a table that is hard to defend at the board. The platform answers them in one workspace, across both GRP indices and published funder records, with the evidence attached.

Who should we measure ourselves against?

Suggested peer sets (similar, aspirational, national and regional), each university with the reason it is suggested; then every measure of both indices against the peers you confirm, field by field and sector by sector.

Which universities should we partner with next?

Universities your peers work with closely in a subject while you do not, and universities strong in a subject that are not yet close partners, each with its evidence: its rank in the subject, your joint works, the peers that share it and shared EU projects.

Inside the platform

What your team can do inside, view by view.

Every index figure is read from the published record, so the positions your team works with are the positions the world sees. Confirm your peers once, and every view, brief and download compares you with the same universities.

Home

Where you stand, and three next steps.

Your positions in both indices, each against its own pool, with your band where you hold one, your strongest subject and sector, your funding record and how many of your peers you lead. Three next steps, ordered by the goals your team sets, come with the figure from your record behind each one, beside the universities and companies to approach next and the live calls that fit your strengths.

Peers

Choose the universities you measure yourself against, then confirm them.

Start from suggested sets (similar, aspirational, national and regional), each university with the reason it is suggested, or search the whole index for one you already have in mind. Choose up to the number of peers agreed for your university and confirm the set: from then on it is fixed, so every view, brief and download compares you with the same universities, and GRP can review it on request.

Benchmark

Every measure of both indices, against your peers.

An indicator map sets each measure of the Research Collaboration Index and the Industry Collaboration Index against the middle half and full range of your peers. See each peer's position in both indices, the universities just above and below you with the gap in places and points, your overall profile against the peer median, and any two measures plotted across the whole index, with a count of the universities ahead of you on both.

Subjects

26 fields, each read against its own pool.

A heatmap of the 26 subjects of the Research Collaboration Index shows where you and each peer stand, as a rank in each subject's own pool. A position resting on fewer than 100 joint works is flagged as thin evidence. See where you lead your peers and where they lead you, who sits just above and below you, and open any subject for its neighbours, world top 10 and partners.

Sectors

Your industry standing, sector by sector.

From the Industry Collaboration Index: where you and your peers stand in each industry sector against its own pool, with small pools marked provisional, what your verified industry work consists of, how your sector mix compares with the typical peer's, and how your industry work has moved year by year.

University partners

Who to partner with next, and why.

See your closest partners today, where they are, how strong each tie is and whether it runs both ways. Then find universities strong in a subject that are not yet close partners, and the white space: universities that at least two of your peers count among their closest partners in a subject while you do not. Every recommendation carries its evidence (the partner's subject rank, your joint works, the peers who work with it and shared EU projects), and Copy evidence turns it into a sourced paragraph for a proposal or a committee paper.

Industry partners

The companies your peers work with that you do not.

Your verified company partners by joint works, sector and home country, and how long each partnership has lasted. Company white space lists verified groups with three or more joint works at two or more of your peers and none with you, with the peers best placed to introduce you. Funded partnerships set UK and EU funded projects against co-publication, so you can see which company ties are also funded and which are not yet.

Awards

The grants your peers have won, and who they win with.

Your EU funding against your peers year by year from CORDIS, as coordinator and as partner; the programmes that fund your peers most and those where you hold no project; a projects explorer by programme, subject, sector, year and role; and the universities, companies and organisations your peers win EU projects with. NIH awards, Canadian and Australian national research council grants and UK industry projects sit beside them where they apply, each in its own currency and window and never added together.

Live calls

Open calls, matched to your strengths.

Open and upcoming calls from live funder listings, matched to your strongest subjects and sectors, with deadlines checked and any call without a confirmed deadline never shown as open. For each call, Should we apply? sets out your fit, your and your peers' past wins in the same programme, who won most and suggested bid partners. Save a call to share it with your team.

Executive brief

A board-ready brief from your record, in one click.

A dated A4 brief for the committee you name: your standing in both indices, the peers you lead and trail, your strongest and weakest subjects and sectors, the universities and companies to approach next with their evidence, your funding record, three questions for the executive, the coverage notes and the independence statement. Print it, save it as PDF or copy the board summary into a paper.

Saved

A shortlist your team can act on together.

Save calls, universities, companies and projects with notes and a status, from considering to submitted. Keep an item private or share it with your workspace, and see at a glance which saved calls close soonest.

Downloads

Take the data with you, with its source attached.

Download the data behind every chart and table as CSV or Excel, a chart as an image, or every panel on a page in one workbook. Each Excel download carries an About sheet with the edition, your peer set, the filters used, the source line and the independence statement, so the figures in your paper match the published ones.

What each team gets

From the vice-chancellor's office to the partnership call.

Vice-chancellor or president

A dated brief on where your university stands in both indices against the universities you measure yourself against, with three questions worth the executive's time, ready before the meeting.

Pro vice-chancellor or vice-president for research

Field by field and sector by sector, where you lead your peers and where you trail, each against its own pool, with thin evidence flagged so a weak signal never drives a decision.

Research office and research intelligence

Open calls matched to your strengths, with your peers' past wins in the same programme and suggested bid partners, and the benchmark tables you are asked for, ready to download with their source line.

Partnerships and knowledge exchange

The universities and companies your peers work with and you do not, each with the evidence to open a conversation, the peers best placed to introduce you, and which company ties are also funded.

International office

Your closest partners country by country, whether each tie runs both ways, and the organisations your peers win EU projects with.

Strategy, planning and rankings

Every measure of both indices against your confirmed peers, the universities just above and below you, and any two measures across the whole index, with every position exactly as published.

How it works

From your enquiry to your first brief.

  1. Request first access. Tell us who you are and where you work, using the form on this page.
  2. We confirm availability and pricing. The GRP team will be in touch at your work email to confirm availability and pricing for your university.
  3. Onboarding in just three days. Once your university is confirmed as a partner, onboarding takes just three days to complete access: GRP opens your workspace and adds your colleagues by their work email, for up to 10 users.
  4. Sign in with your work email. Use the secure sign-in link sent to your work email. There is no password to create or manage.
  5. Choose and confirm your peers. Choose up to your agreed number of peers and confirm them. Once confirmed, the set is fixed, so every view compares you consistently; GRP can review it on request.
  6. Act on it. Approach the partners the evidence points to, check the calls that fit, copy the evidence into a proposal and print the brief for your next committee.

The platform opens to partner universities on Monday 19 October 2026. Nothing to install and nothing to upload: it runs in your browser, with a short guided tour on every page.

The record behind the platform

Watch the Global Research Partnerships index report.

The platform reads the same published record. Press and media centre

Why trust it

Built on GRP's indices. Every figure traces back to the published record.

  • Built on GRP's two indices, both drawn from the open scholarly record: the Research Collaboration Index and the Industry Collaboration Index.
  • Every index figure is read from the same record the public pages show. The Research Collaboration Index 2026 record stays fixed until the next edition in September 2027, and Industry Collaboration Index figures are fixed once published, so the figures in your brief do not shift under you.
  • Funding comes from funder-published records. Each source stays apart from the others and from the index figures: nothing is added together, and currencies and periods are never mixed.
  • Each recommendation shows the evidence behind it, thin evidence is flagged rather than hidden, and the limits of the record are stated where they matter.
  • Only colleagues GRP has added to your university's workspace can open it, and no other university can see who is in your workspace or which peers you have chosen.

The indices stay independent. The indices are free, public and independent; no commercial relationship changes any position.

The platform is a partner service. It is arranged with each university, reads the published indices in depth and cannot move any university's rank, score, band or standing. That is what makes its evidence safe to put in front of your executive.

Questions

Before you request access

When does the platform open?

It opens to partner universities on Monday 19 October 2026. Once your university is confirmed as a partner, onboarding takes just three days to complete access, so request first access now.

How does my university become a partner?

The platform is a partner service, arranged with each university. Staff at any of the 1,195 universities in the Research Collaboration Index can enquire using the form on this page, and the GRP team will confirm availability and pricing for your university. Once your university is confirmed, GRP opens its workspace and adds your colleagues by their work email.

Can several colleagues use it?

Yes. Each partner university has one workspace for up to 10 users from its research office, partnerships, international and strategy teams, each signing in with their own work email. Colleagues can request access from this page too, and GRP can review the number of users on request.

How do we sign in?

With a secure sign-in link sent to your work email. There is no password to create or manage, and only colleagues GRP has added to your university's workspace can open it.

Can we change our peers once they are confirmed?

You choose up to your agreed number of peers and confirm the set. Once confirmed, the set is fixed, so every view, brief and download compares you with the same universities. If your strategy changes, GRP can review the set on request.

What data does it use?

Both GRP indices, the Research Collaboration Index and the Industry Collaboration Index, built from the open scholarly record, with each published edition fixed until its next release. Funding comes from funder-published records where they apply: European Commission projects from CORDIS, NIH awards, Canadian and Australian national research council grants and UK industry projects. Live calls come from funders' own listings. Each source is kept separate, and none is added to another or to an index figure. There is nothing to install and nothing to upload.

Can the platform change our position in an index?

No. The platform reads the same published record as everyone else and cannot move any university's rank, score, band or standing. The indices are free, public and independent; no commercial relationship changes any position. The platform is a separate partner service, arranged with each university.

How is it different from the public index pages?

The public pages show each university's own record, one at a time. The platform sets your record beside the peers you confirm, across both indices and your funding record, finds the universities and companies your peers work with that you do not, matches live calls to your strengths and turns it all into a brief for your executive, with the data behind every chart and table ready to download.

What happens after I submit, and what does GRP see?

Your request reaches the GRP team, who will be in touch at your work email to confirm availability and pricing for your university. We use your details to arrange your access, we note which page and link brought you to us, and we send occasional news only if you tick the box. Inside the platform, GRP sees who is in your university's workspace and basic usage (sign-ins, views opened, briefs printed and evidence copied) so we can run and improve the service. No other university sees your workspace or your peers. Our privacy notice has the detail.
