Sir Munir Pirmohamed
Pirmohamed leads the UK's foremost pharmacogenetics programme, showing how genetic testing can prevent adverse drug reactions. He directs Liverpool's Wolfson Centre for Personalised Medicine and co-led the European PREPARE trial, which found that a 12 gene panel substantially reduced side effects, evidence now informing NHS and international prescribing policy.
Andrew Owen
Owen co-directs Liverpool's Centre of Excellence in Long-acting Therapeutics, translating nanomedicine into long acting formulations for HIV, malaria, tuberculosis and hepatitis C.
