Research at University of Würzburg is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 1,043 institutions in 77 countries, and international collaborators appear on 48% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany, at 1,282 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 22,912 co-authored works.
