Research at University of Wuppertal is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 818 institutions in 69 countries, and international collaborators appear on 40% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with RWTH Aachen University in Germany, at 236 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 9,275 co-authored works.
