Research at University of Malta is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 881 institutions in 76 countries, and international collaborators appear on 50% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with University of Edinburgh in United Kingdom, at 117 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 8,241 co-authored works.
