Research at University of Crete is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 913 institutions in 77 countries, and international collaborators appear on 47% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Greece, at 1,005 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 10,180 co-authored works.
