Research at University of Bern is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 1,117 institutions in 79 countries, and international collaborators appear on 60% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with University of Lausanne in Switzerland, at 3,256 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 49,926 co-authored works.
