Research at Universidade Federal Fluminense is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 864 institutions in 74 countries, and international collaborators appear on 15% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, at 3,280 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 28,034 co-authored works.
