Research at Universidad de Cantabria is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 840 institutions in 73 countries, and international collaborators appear on 33% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with Universitat de Barcelona in Spain, at 276 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 10,400 co-authored works.
