Research at Pennsylvania State University is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 1,155 institutions in 81 countries, and international collaborators appear on 31% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with Harvard University in United States, at 1,238 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 66,554 co-authored works.
