Kyoto University's research now spans 79 countries

Research at Kyoto University is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 1,156 institutions in 79 countries, and international collaborators appear on 28% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with The University of Tokyo in Japan, at 4,566 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 62,730 co-authored works.

Connectivity of this kind is increasingly the currency of modern science, and it is measurable: the open scholarly record makes every one of these relationships public and checkable.
