Heidelberg University's research now spans 79 countries

Research at Heidelberg University is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 1,136 institutions in 79 countries, and international collaborators appear on 50% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in Germany, at 3,856 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 80,674 co-authored works.

Connectivity of this kind is increasingly the currency of modern science, and it is measurable: the open scholarly record makes every one of these relationships public and checkable.
