Research at Aston University is a global undertaking: the university co-authors with 925 institutions in 74 countries, and international collaborators appear on 48% of its output.

Its largest single research relationship is with University of Birmingham in United Kingdom, at 518 joint works. Across the network, five-year output reaches 9,318 co-authored works.
