WINN-ORGANIC · Widening INNovations for ORGANIC food

HORIZONStatus: SIGNED1 September 202531 August 2029EU funding €5,434,500Call HORIZON-CL6-2024-FARM2FORK-02

WINN-Organic will establish Organic Food Innovation Hubs (OFIHs) across 7 European countries (5 Member States:taly, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Hungary;1 Associated Country: UK and 1 Third Country: Switzerland) that will address systemic imbalances in the organic food value chain and contribute to stimulating demand for organic food. Based on an Open and Systemic innovation ecosystem model, OFIHs will be the place for co-creating, testing, implementing and upscaling innovative solutions focusing on processing (small scale-controlled fermentation, low heat pasteurization and low pressure drying); sustainable packaging (new biodegradable/compostable bioplastics); and open-source digital infrastructure (short-supply chains, food procurement and an open food supply network) applicable in the organic fruit, vegetable and dairy sectors in Europe and adaptable to the needs of organic operators. Co-learning and knowledge exchange (Community of Practice, training, capacity building, cross-fertilisation) will drive replication that will trigger innovation up-scaling and out-scaling and connect multiple actors within local organic food systems. The MAA will be based on the adoption of the Living Lab and quintuple helix approaches for setting up OFIHs and steer their rolling out. New business and financial models will be identified and adapted, and strategies will be designed to maximize impact. The sustainability impacts of the WINN-Organic innovative solutions and approaches will be assessed by a holistic framework and serve as input for further developments. WINN-Organic will provide policy recommendations for post-2030.
