The University of Padua (Unipd), celebrates its 800-year commitment to excellent research and open science by UNIPhD - a doctoral programme dedicated to the next-generation talents following the EU Principles for Innovative Doctoral Training. 50 (36 months long) fellowships within 25 PhD courses will be granted through one global call with an exceptionally broad research scope, including Arts&Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering, Physics, Technology, Life Sciences, Medicine, Natural Sciences. UNIPhD research and trainining activities will set the stage for an integrated interdisciplinary and intersectoral approach to address urgent challenges of the UN agenda while being strongly committed to regional specialization areas (i.e. Smart Agrifood, Smart Manufacturing, Creative Industries, and Sustainable Living), being supported by the Veneto Regional Governance and connected with the Regional Industrial Networks. UNIPhD encodes excellence by an effective participation of local ERC and MSCA grantees that will share their expertise as supervisors of the doctoral projects in all research areas. Cross-fertilization of ideas and interdisciplinarity will be leveraged by calls for competitive actions among recruited ESR (Competition for Global Challenges). Specific training on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) aspects, transferable, soft and innovation management skills, ranging from communication, professional development, funding opportunities, entrepreneurship, will complement the ESR research and training profile. UNIPhD tools will include: (i) counselling by Trusted Intermediaries with intimate knowledge of the academic world and a background in psychology; (ii) a personalized Career Development Plan with SWOT analysis assessment by an Advisory-hub; (iii) virtual and exchange mobility plans by a dedicated external expert (VEEM) that will facilitate the expected secondment activities.
