ScanDigiLit · Scandinavian Digital Literature

HORIZONStatus: SIGNED1 September 202329 February 2028EU funding €210,911Call HORIZON-MSCA-2021-PF-01

The ScanDigiLit project will digitally investigate how the Italian-French discourse on Scandinavian authors and culture has been structured and evolved through articles that appeared in Italian and French cultural magazines between 1870 and 1914. Through a newly developed analytical method rooted in the digital humanities, I will be able to visually examine and understand the perceived narrative trends and reception structure of Scandinavian literature in Italian and French cultural magazines. In order to find semantic correlations between significant words in their context and their occurence, I will analyse the evolution of the discussion on Scandinavian authors through an interpretation of articles, developing a lexical research methodology on linguistically different corpora referring to the same cultural area. By combining unexplored corpora with unprecedented analytical tools, the ScanDigiLit project will uncover new insights into a crucial period of Scandinavian literary history.
