SAPTOS · SuperAbsorbent Polymers Through Oxidized Starch

H2020Status: CLOSED1 June 201830 November 2018EU funding €50,000Call H2020-EIC-SMEInst-2018-2020

The proposed work in this SuperAbsorbent Polymers Through Oxidized Starch [SAPTOS] initiative is aimed at the scale-up of Rodenburg’s novel SAP platform towards fully biodegradable disposable diapers, build on cheap starch side streams and a low cost continuous reactor process. Such platform will be a breakthrough in solving a major global waste problem. Specific objectives in this feasibility study are: - Explore promising business cases for our bio-degradable starch based polymer platforms (i.e. DiAldehyde Starch and Solanyl stretch films) with potential customers in diaper industries, evaluating required specifications for polymer derivates, and required characteristics of SAP-based applications. - Elaborate on a detailed business plan (D1).
