Safe SAD · First ""All-in-one"" and Adjustable Supraglottic Airway Device for a Safely Clinical Airway Management""
Singularity AG is a medical device company created in 2012, in Zürich. The inspiration driving the company was to design an advanced unique 2nd generation Supraglottic Airway Device (SAD). The original design of “Singularity SAD” offers an innovative, versatile, cheaper and safer alternative compared to the current static SADs. It avoids unnecessary risks and complications associated to insertion, maintenance and manipulation of patients under anesthesia and can be used in most situations requiring airway management. Two different series of SAD have been developed, the SAD Air and the SAD Compact, different parts of which have been patented for diverse uses and licensed in several countries. All pieces of these devices have been specifically designed to allow for the full mechanization of production, which ensures a competitive price using cost-effective manufacturing technologies. The shareholders of Singularity AG are Mr. Werner Dubach and Mr. Fabio Hausammann, who have an extensive experience in the production of devices and have developed Singularity in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Markus Weiss, who completed the team with his medical expertise. The Singularity project has received the support of relevant companies and institutions for its development, which has motivated the current TRL 6. The “all-in-one functional design” of Singularity SADs makes it a universal tool that covers all the functions offered by the other SADs. The demand for this type of device is estimated at more than 150 million units per year. The wide range of applications and extended use under anesthesia ensure the massive and continuous use of SADs. The functionality of Singularity has been successfully tested using the SAD Air prototype in the prestigious Schulthess Klinik (Zürich), which has an experienced anesthesiology team. The unit at size 4 has been fully produced for validation in clinical tests, showing excellent results in an initial study with 10 patients.
