RE-NOURISH · Research and Education to Nourish Society

HORIZONStatus: SIGNED1 May 202630 April 2028EU funding €345,680Call HORIZON-MSCA-2025-CITIZENS-01

Food is central to human life, health, culture, economy, and social relationships. It not only sustains us physically but also shapes our identities, traditions, and communities. The agri-food sector represents a key part of the European economy, involving research across biotechnology, digital technologies, sustainability, and climate neutrality. RE-NOURISH builds on this understanding, starting from the European Alliance EU-GIFT to integrate its activities with the objectives of the MSCA and Citizens Action. RE-NOURISH connects 7 universities from different countries and aims to strengthen the link between science and society within a European dimension, by organising two editions of the European Researchers’ Night and of Researchers at School. RE-NOURISH aims to redefine the relationship between research and citizens through inclusive, participatory activities. Its objectives are to: – promote awareness of research’s societal relevance and strengthen researchers’ roles in local communities; – increase citizens’ trust in science by humanising researchers, showcasing creativity, and aligning universities with civic and European values; – communicate EU policy priorities and demonstrate how EU-funded research addresses global and local challenges; – inspire young people toward science careers through school programmes and hands-on activities. Inclusion is at the project’s core, with special attention to rural communities, reflecting the geographical context of EU-GIFT. Methodologically, RE-NOURISH follows a co-design, bottom-up approach involving researchers and teachers, to create diverse and engaging events across all disciplines. By embedding science into everyday life, RE-NOURISH promotes greener, fairer, and more resilient communities. It targets the general public, especially youth, highlighting research as both a driver of progress and an attractive career path.
