IST-Africa (2010 – 2011) is a collaborative Initiative between 1 European and 13 African partners, 11 Ministries & 2 National Councils responsible for ICT adoption, Science, Technology; Innovation policy and research in North (Egypt), Southern (South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Botswana, Mauritius), East (Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi), West (Senegal) & Central Africa (Cameroon).Main objectives:· Strengthen research dimension of Information Society policy dialogues between the EC, African countries and regional organisations· Organise events in Europe and Africa synchronised with policy dialogue meetings, provide input on common policy & R&D priorities, opportunities & challenges and supporting the Information Society Track of the 8th Africa-EU Strategic Partnership· Identify and analyse African ICT policy & research priorities aligned with EU priorities, recommendations for future co-operation.IST-Africa (2010 – 2011) will achieve these goals through the following actions: a) Organise 2 Ministerial level international research conferences & meetings with regional stakeholders in Africa; b)Undertake a survey of existing and emerging Living Labs in Africa and associated White Paper to provide a context for Living Labs and Living Lab Networks as a key priority of the 2nd Action Plan of the 8th Africa-EU Strategic Partnership; c) Organise 2 Workshops at European conferences; d) Document and analyse African ICT policies, engage Stakeholders to identify research priorities, recommendations for future co-operation; e) Organise Workshops to validate research priorities for future cooperation, create awareness of upcoming Calls; f) Strengthen international cooperation by promoting EU-African research cooperation under FP7-ICT, Capacities & People Programmes and g) Maximize impact by publishing on IST-Africa portal, engage with Technology Platforms
