IMPULSE · CRG International Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme in Life Sciences

FP7Status: CLOSED1 January 201431 December 2018EU funding €982,102

The proposed “CRG International Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme in Life Sciences” (ImPuLSe) builds on the existing Fellowship Programme “International Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Programme (InterPod) running from 2010 to 2014, co-funded by the FP7 COFUND scheme. ImPuLSe aims at enabling outstanding junior scientists of all nationalities to develop a competitive research project in life sciences at the CRG, thus promoting the transnational mobility and career perspectives of young scientists in Europe. The CRG is an international biomedical research institute of excellence with strengths in Systems Biology, Cell Biology, Stem Cells and Cancer, Epigenetics, Reprogramming, Genetic Diseases and Bioinformatics. As a unique international research institute (76% of non-Spanish research staff), it draws on the organisational model similar to European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and holds a strategic partnership with them. The proposed 5-year Programme offers a total of 12 fellowships to be announced in 2 competitive calls. The Programme fellows will benefit from an exciting international scientific environment and an integrated training programme, including access to state of the art infrastructure, mentoring, lectures and seminars, specialised scientific and technological courses, complementary skills training and career development activities, postdoctoral symposia and retreats, as well as social activities. In comparison to the previous Programme, the ImPuLSe Programme offers improved features (e.g. higher number of fellowships and participation of Sanofi as an industrial partner); while keeping the emphasis on interdisciplinarity, peer-review, as an added value. ImPuLSe will contribute to providing the highest quality scientific training, and improving the mobility of young scientists in Europe for a successful career in science, offering interdisciplinary, integrated training and attractive employment conditions.
