GREENEUROPE · Green Cops and ENGOs: Comparing the Regulation of Environmental Crime in Europe
This project explores the collaboration between police officers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the fight against environmental crime in Europe. It uses qualitative methods and comparison of four case studies (Belgium, Denmark, France and Germany) to account for convergence/divergence in three questions: who are the NGOS supporting green policing in Europe and what do they do?; How do NGOs and police officers work together in green policing?; How does the policing role of non-state actors change our understanding of contemporary European states? Answering these questions is critical as the project tackles a key concern of European citizens and enriches the empirical and theoretical understanding of contemporary European policing and states.
