G-TRAIN · G-TRAIN: Supporting Education and Training in GNSS

The scope of the G-TRAIN project is the creation of a framework at European level for higher education in the field of Satellite Navigation.The proposed activities are directed towards different educational levels: for the II cycle of the Bologna process, the project will focus on the Master of Science, while for the III cycle of the Bologna process, Specializing Masters and Ph.D will be addressed. The improvement and transnational coordination of existing initiatives will start from 3 areas of excellence in GNSS as identified by the ERIG project (Munich in Germany, Turin in Italy, Toulouse in France), represented by the G-TRAIN partners. The aim of the actions put in place by the project is to ease students and researchers exchange is order to create a favourable environment for a new generation of GNSS experts who will contribute to technological development and creation of innovation in the future, so filling the gaps of Europe with respect to US in education and research processes. Starting from existing initiatives, the project addresses:- the creation of a collaborative MSc- the strengthening of a Specializing Master for long term professional education- the support to Ph.D training and networkingBesides, in order to implement longer term and wider initiatives, the project supports the creation of a Satellite University Network, starting from the networking of the academia of the centres of excellence, but open to other universities working in GNSS field. Through working groups and activities, the network will investigate the necessary actions for GNSS education promotion and coordination in order to put in place a global European strategy in GNSS education with impacts on Research and Innovation.The project has been designed to be open to cooperation with similar actions undertaken by other institutions in Europe (e.g. ESA), thus maximizing the impact of the activities in the European environment of education and research in GNSS.
