FutureSync · PRS Timeserver (with PRS type I board) for fixed critical infrastructure
Safran Electronics and Defense France, Safran Trusted 4D, Safran Electronics and Defense Spain, Leonardo and Fraunhofer are teaming up to demonstrate the use of the first generation of Galileo PRS in the network time synchronization for CPA authorised civilian applications, for fixed critical infrastructures such as Telecommunications, Governmental infrastructure, Banking/Finance, railway operators, water and wastewater systems, power grids, etc.The FutureSync project will enable a PRS Time Server product which will provide a new PRS based network synchronization service with improved continuity of service and access control compared to general GNSS services. The FutureSync will implement a novel concept which will bring the following benefits:1.Several PRS Type module 1 boards can be used from at least 3 European countries. This will ease the diffusion of PRS application to many users across EU.2.The time acquired by the FutureSync will be distributed on networks through a secured MACSec protocol.3.The FutureSync will be able to serve other Time Servers with a secured time reference when they are subject to heavy GNSS jamming for example. To ensure the market diffusion, Safran benefits from a long experience in providing network time synchronization solutions to civilian users mostly in Europe and North-America. As of today, Safran has more than 30,000 time servers in operation 24-7 to synchronize critical infrastructure. Note that many of the Safran Time Servers deployed in North-America are using M-Code GNSS receivers in order to benefit from the same service features as PRS e.g. continuity of service and access control.
