EXSTASY · Experimental STation for the Analysis of the Spin dYnamics

FP7Status: CLOSED3 June 20132 June 2015EU funding €249,243

The aim of the project is the development of an experimental station for performing experiments on the magnetic properties of materials thanks to the spin analysis of the photoelectrons. This goal will be achieved with the construction of a new UHV station that will be equipped with a vectorial mott detector apparatus already present at the TASC laboratory. The actual mott detector system will be implemented with new electronics and new acquisition software that will permit to perform time resolved experiments. The system will be designed to be fully compatible with the beamlines of the FERMI free electron laser. In this way we will obtain the first vectorial magnetometer with intrinsically high surface sensitivity, well adapted to nanostructures, capable of FEL-range time resolution. The measure of spin polarisation is intrinsecally unaffected by space-charge arising from high FEL intensity allowing the measure also in the extreme intensity conditions of the FEL source. The professor Petrov is a leading expert in the field of the spin analysis and will give an important contribution to the achievement of these goals.""
