EXARCH · sErvitization of Industry X.0 Assets powered by secure, Resilient and immersive digital twin teCHnologies
Recent EU decisions highlight the need to further invest and innovate in the field of Digital Twin (DT) technologies, targeting at unrestricted monitoring, visualization, simulation and optimization of critical infrastructures, processes, subsystems and industrial processes in a manner that is economically and environmentally sustainable, efficient and flexible. Digital Twins (DTs) constitute the new field of convergence of the biological, physical and digital worlds and form the basis of the twin transition by 2030; yet, their development requires an interdisciplinary view of the main processes that govern the operation of enterprises, to effectively develop and/or embrace new products. Fully-fledged digitization of physical assets in the production field through DTs (i.e., workers, mobile/fixed robots, stock, fleet), constitutes the main vehicle towards the adoption of innovative and emerging business models that distinct the ownership of assets from their daily usage and management, a.k.a. servitization. The EXARCH programme sets the ambitious aim to design, implement and experimentally demonstrate the performance of a fully modularized end-to-end digital twin platform, along with the necessary algorithmic innovations, to support of the emerging Asset-as-a-Service (AaaS) paradigm. The EXARCH DT-enabled platform brings forth the design of cloud-native AaaS microservices that fully leverage the exciting new capabilities offered by 6G mobile data networks as well as state-of-the-art advances in semantics-aware computer vision, aiming to create a resilient and immersive biological, digital and physical Industry X.0 continuum. EXARCH targets to the development of an immersive user-centric service suite designed to automate AaaS management, addressing unique cybersecurity challenges posed by remote monitoring, control and optimization of Industry X.0 assets while making the most out of the opportunities offered by fully-fledged digitalization of cyber physical assets.
