AbstractOMADA, a Spanish innovative startup, has developed Blapp, the 1st gamified home rehabilitation platform for Specific Language Impairment (SLI), with validated content based on scientific evidence and highly innovative technologies. Blapp will improve patients’ rehabilitacion anywhere, increasing their quality of life and of their family, while reducing the workload of the therapist and minimizing the burden on healthcare services. SLI affects up to 10% of children and is recognized as the most frequent neurodevelopment disorder in Childhood. Over the past five years, the Speech-Language Pathologists industry has grown by 3.8% to reach revenue of $4bn in 2017. Clinical guidelines recommend intensive daily treatment; however, due to insufficient sanitary resources, cost of treatment, therapist workload and family’s organization, actual therapy is insufficiently done once or twice a week. Blapp will solve this problem transforming therapy activities into an online serious game. The proposed solution has two differential and highly innovative technological features in the field of home rehabilitation: The use of Artificial Intelligent algorithms developed to tailor and adapt the therapy to each particular patient; and Voice Recognition Systems built with Deep Neural Network technology to facilitate patient-platform interaction. The latter is very challenging when treating with children with certain pathologies such as acquired brain damage, cerebral palsy, language disorders, or others.OMADA has already raised European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funds for early research and technological development. The prototype is showing exceptional results in its first pilot tests.OMADA’s objectives are: to conclude the development phase; to conduct a feasibility study to assess the market potential and define a commercial strategy; to identify potential customers and to define a business plan to attract investors and key commercial partners.
