Art&Science · Belgian Researchers animating a night connecting art and science

FP7Status: CLOSED1 May 201130 November 2011EU funding €70,000

On the 23rd of September 2011, 3 big events will be organised in three Belgian cities in the frame of the European Researchers’ night. This project will be organised by the Belgian Science Policy office in collaboration with major universities and research institutions. For this edition, all partners agreed to animate the different events on the theme of “Art & Science”. This theme will enable the citizens to better understand and appreciate the work of researchers in relation with artistic disciplines but also to discover the esthetics of sciences.Quizzes, games, experiments, discussions, films, and other activities will make this event dynamic. The interaction between researchers and visitors will enhance the recognition of the role of the researchers in society and in daily life. It will also promote the careers of researchers among the younger public. Finally, this will help the public to go beyond certain preconceptions about researchers and show that these are not odd characters stuck in a laboratory, but people like you and me.
