MeetOptics is a deep-tech start-up founded by Dr. Bárbara Buades and Dr. James Douglas, CEO aMeetOptics is a deep-tech start-up founded by Dr. Bárbara Buades and Dr. James Douglas, CEO and CTO, previously researchers from the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) and the University of Oxford. It is a disruptive solution, unique in the global market, being the first specialized search engine for real-time photonic components. Thanks to the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms and neural networks, it allows the global scalability of help and professional and precise technical guidance in this market. The field of photonics is rapidly growing today. There are more than 100,000 optical components with which to manufacture lasers, microscopes or spectrometers, having approximately 30 technical aspects each, crucial to the final performance. Professionals spend weeks and even months to select a single component, exploring a small fraction of suppliers not knowing most of the time what they really need, creating major industry disruptions. MeetOptics will provide a service through AI together with a real-time Meta-Search engine helping professionals match their technologies and helping suppliers and professionals refine their real needs. MeetOptics will shorten out Photonics technology developments time and will improve companies’ throughput. MeetOptics is seeking Women TechEU funding to develop new Advanced AI algorithms, to scale up its database from 40.000 to 200.000 products, validating its responsiveness to market demands from 100.000 test users and saving time and resources to professionals and manufacturers. It is a 9-month project that is expected to start in 2022, the first day after the signature of Grant Agreement, to subsequently go to market at the beginning of 2023.In addition, the Women TechEU mentoring and coaching support represents a great help to validate the business strategy, identify new business multipliers and access new investors and partners internationally.
